Defibrillator
More and more defibrillator machines are being made available in public places because they do save lives. The machines are easy to use and no specialist training is necessary. In rural areas one could argue that the need for such machines is so much more.
It was agreed im the Neuadd Gymuned Committee on 29th February that obtaining a defibrillator to be placed in a convenient spot within the village would be a worth while thing to do.
We therefore hope to start an appeal to raise funds to the sum of £2000. It would be commendable if the various clubs, societies and the chapels / church could organise events to support the appeal. Individual contributions would obviously be very much appreciated as well.
Maybe there will never be any use for such a machine in our community, but if it saved one life, then the effort would be a worthy one.

Grant to Upgrade Technology Equipment in neuadd Gymuned Talsarnau
We are glad to announce that Neuadd Gymuned Talsarnau has received a grant of £4850 from the Big Lottery Fund – Awards for All towards upgrading the technology equipment in the hall.
A public address system has been bought that will enhance people’s enjoyment of events such as concerts, presentations, events by schoolchildren etc.
Equipment has been bought in order to facilitate the recording of local events in the form of sound and film which include cameras and computers. Editing work will be possible through the use of editing software.
The Neuadd Gymuned committee wish to acknowledge and express our appreciation of this grant which will enable people locally to use and record activities that pertain to our history and culture.
It was very encouraging over the period of the Rugby World Cup to see The Red Dragon of Ynys showing its support to the Welsh Rugby Team. Some even say that that is why they did so well! Many thanks to Ian Rayner for such an original idea.
Many congratulations to Corinna Gittins who is now living in Penrhyndeudraeth but who is originally from Ffridd Fedw, Talsarnau.
She received her education at Ysgol Gynradd Talsarnau and Ysgol Ardudwy.
This summer Corinna received an M.A. degree from Bangor University in Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice. We would wish to congratulate Corinna and delight in her achievement. We wish her every success in the future.

The wait for this event has been a very long one and it was symbolically important that it was the school children who cut the tape to re-open the link between the two communities and restore connections which have been missing due to the loss of use of the bridge.
We can now look forward with confidence and hope that the bridge will be a means to help the local economy to recover within the area and that we will again see local businesses and various establishments and societies flourish and succeed.
Together We Sing - Choir from Estonia and Cana Mi Gei
An evening was organised at Neuadd Talsarnau Thursday evening 25th June 2015 when a Ladies Choir from Estonia who are visiting the area shared a program with our local ladies choir Cor Cana Mi Gei - who are because of their musical talents making a name for themselves. Phil Mostert was the compere and in his own unique way managed to convey some of the introductions in more that the usual two languages. The two choirs presented a variety of songs and the audience were enthralled by their singing. There was a contrast in the dresses worn by the two choirs - the Estonia Choir in their light coloured dresses whilst Cor Cana Mi Gei were in their striking black. Although their dresses contrasted in colour, there was no marked difference in the enjoyment they gave to the audience. The program was enjoyed by all present.
In these days of conflict throughout the world, it is wonderful that music and singing is condusive to bringing people from different countries together in friendship. We hope and wish that these peaceful events that bring people from different countries together will continue.
We thank everybody who were involved in organising this event.
